Congratulations to Natlleli

At Glover we want to raise the flag of congratulations to our very own Natlleli Olvera who gave birth to Alexander Olvera on Saturday October 29th.  Weighing in at a healthy 9lbs and 4oz, Alexander is welcomed by the Glover Cleaning family and friends.  Our sincerest and happiest thoughts go the Olvera family.  The writer Don Herold wrote “Babies are such a nice way to start people”, we couldn’t agree more – here is to a great start.

And without further ado, Alexander…

Glover Cleaning, a Utah maid service, would like to close with this unattributed quote:

“A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.”

Congratulations Natlleli from everyone here at Glover Cleaning!!

Getting to Know Glover Cleaning – The Most Interesting Cleaning Business in the World (or at least Utah)

Stay Clean, our Friends! What do you think?

Hello, friends.  It may sound odd to you that we have a great time at Glover Cleaning.

Most of our clients greatly dislike the task of cleaning – which is why we have a job.  We appreciate that.  Beyond that, we take pride in running a business that constantly looks to improve.   We measure our improvement in a few ways: 1) growing our business, 2) having satisfied clients as we grow, 3) assisting our cleaners and maids, and office staff, in achieving their personal and professional goals.

This is one of the reasons you’ve read about us assisting Shawn Powell in his quest to win the Utah Open.  He’s in our plumbing division and you can read about him by clicking on the link on his name.

In this video, we took the time to introduce you to the people that you interact with, or will interact with as you become our clients.  We hope you enjoy it.  We enjoyed making it – and we do believe that we are the most interesting cleaning business in the world!

Cleaning Video Blooper Reel with Shawn Powell

Hello friends, I thought you might enjoy the reel, I know I did.  Andrew Braden did a great job of putting together some of our outtakes.

As background, we are shooting a video for our cleaning division, so we had Shawn play the role of Adam Smith on the golf course, who is giving a testimonial to the value of having a maid service.

My Top 3 parts of the reel: 1) Shawn looking like he’s sick trying to make his Scottish accent work on one of his first speaking parts, 2) me trying (and failing) to roll the ball into the hole from the side while Shawn is pitching it in, and I especially enjoyed the time where we see his ball and my roll at the same time, and 3) the beeps in between the takes.

What are your favorite parts?

Behind the Scenes Footage…

As Jim Nantz says, “Hello friends.”  Since we are posting some follow up information to our post last week about Shawn Powell’s efforts to make the Utah Open, and the sponsorship of him by Glover Maintenance, I thought that intro was appropriate.

The cleaning team at Glover Maintenance is working on an ad we’ll post to promote our maid services and such.  Since I wrote the script, in a miraculous and totally unexpected way, we found ourselves at a golf course as part of the ad.

We had Shawn play Adam Smith, the author of Wealth of Nations. Since he’s Scottish, I placed him on the golf course.  Anyhow, Andrew Braden is our director for the commercial and while they were working on the shoot, I took some behind the scenes footage.  Here are two of the better pieces, in my opinion.

Hope you have some fun watching!

Fun Times at Glover Maintenance BBQ

Water balloon tosses, marshmallow races, horse shoes, bounce houses, raffles, and good food—not just a list of some of my favorite things, but also some of what was enjoyed at our company BBQ.  This post is written mainly for our team so they can get pictures from the event and remember some of the good times.

The turn out was great at about 140 people.  We had great representation from each of our divisions: Landscape Maintenance, Plumbing and Heating, and Cleaning.  It was a lot of work and we want to especially thank Kim Matz for the planning and the work in getting it all set up.

I think the highlight was the balloon toss for the adults.  There was definite reluctance from the adults in doing it, but once we got everybody off the picnic benches and lined up, it was a lot of fun.  We’ve included the pictures for review.

Hopefully, the cleaners appreciated being able to just show up to the event and leave when it was over; no clean up required before of after the event on their part (seeing as that’s most of their job during work hours—cleaning up for events, or after them).  In that way, the event was maid easy (couldn’t resist the pun).

Thanks to the team that makes it fun, the customers that make it possible to support our families, and our families that give us a reason to work.

Local Boy Looks to Make Dream Become Reality

Ask Barack Obama, he knows.  A plumber can come from nowhere and throw a wrench in everything.  His bid in 2008 nearly came unraveled due to Joe the Plumber.

Glover Maintenance’s very own Plumbing Supervisor, Shawn Powell of Lehi, hopes to throw a wrench in the Utah golf scene by winning the Utah Open.  We’re excited to be playing a small role in helping him chase a dream—and we think he can do it.

Who’s Shawn Powell?

If you’re one of our customers and have had Shawn out to your home, you know he’s a great plumber.  He’s in charge of our Plumbing technicians out of Salt Lake City, a third generation Master Plumber, and a first generation golfer.  Two weeks ago he carded a 66 at The Ranches; he’s the reigning Cascade Golf club champion; and most importantly, his tips and lessons have brought my handicap back into the stratosphere and my drives now usually end up playable.

Amazingly, Shawn’s game is at that level even though he’s only able to play about five rounds a month, and gets up early or stays up late to hit a couple buckets a week.  So, in that sense, he’s a lot like most of us “regular” guys that enjoy the game.

What’s the Utah Open?  Why’s it a big deal?

The Siegfried & Jensen Utah Open is the premier Utah golf event put on by the Utah PGA.  Its open to anybody who qualifies either by exemptions, or by winning the qualifier round.  Professionals and amateurs alike can compete.

The winner of The Open receives a check and an exemption to a Nationwide Tour event.  If they play well in that event, they can continue to play and find themselves making good money playing professional golf.  The Utah Open has no BCS keeping people from the table if they beat whoever is on the schedule.

Should I follow the Utah Open?

Yes.  Six of the last ten winners are Utah golfers and one was an amateur.  These competitors are your friends and neighbors—and maybe your plumber.  Its not often in life you know somebody that has the courage and opportunity to chase their dreams.

Glover Maintenance is excited to sponsor Shawn in his effort and proud to have him wear our company logo.  Best of luck Shawn!  We’ll keep you posted on his progress.
